| I am predisposed (probably genetically) to being a generalist and that when coupled with formal training (at the graduate level) in quantitative assessment of systems makes me an excellent candidate for solving complex problems. | At Raytheon I designed and built a device that won me a Patent Award for a Two Color Ratio Pyrometer System. The systems development reduced error over its predecessor by a factor of 10 to 16 times. |
I am very good at bringing together information from a wide variety of sources and applying it to achieve practical solutions. |
I was honored to be a member of the, Cycles for the Millions, team defining what systems architecture should follow Digital's Clusters: vector or massively parallel. |
| I soon hope to complete a doctorate in a field so unrelated to my work. It is not on my resume. It is simply an area of high personal interest. | I researched options, recommended and implemented software and hardware systems to support a secure (SECRET) multimedia conference center. |
| My first assignment with Sylvania was on a program that was in trouble. It was the single largest contract in our group. I turned the program around and continued to manage and develop programs for Government and Industry for the next 4 years. | At Sylvania I went on site, replaced two instructors on a contract course, that was "in trouble," learning and teaching 120 hours of material, at the graduate level, from an entirely new discipline, concurrent with teaching it. |
| I am a systems person who is most happy dealing with strategic issues. I work hard to develop relationships at all levels of the organizations I contact. I find the work of developing these relationships effort enriches the non technical side of my life. | At Digital I was a hands-on manager responsible for Pre-sales support of networks to DECs Top One Hundred Customers. In this role I personally supported one pilot program worth $20 million that would effect 14,000 of the customer's employees. |
| I have 35+ years work experience years experience in positions with required both influence and positional authority. About ten years experience as a supervisor and cost center manager. In my 25 years as an individual contributor my work often required strong influence management skills. I developed a unique process which uses superordinate goals and a non threatening approach for soliciting information from the individuals to establish congruence between groups. | At home the first computer system installed, in 1984, was a DEC PDT running RT-11. Presently set up and running are NT, LINUX, A/UX, Macintosh 7.n and 8, O/S2, PCDOS, MSDOS, Windows 3.1, and RT-11 on three IBM compatibles (two workstations and a server), five Macintosh, an old Tandy computer and the venerable DEC PDT. Most machines are connected to a LAN. This network runs AppleTalk and Open Transport (Apple's implementation of TCP/IP). |
