On Going Event
 The current going project is an Internet directory of human service providers. Essentially nothing is wrong with existing directories if a telephone number and address is enough information. No agency handles all the problems of man- or woman-kind. The plan is to create a database with additional information needed to match a client with the right agency. Consider a city with ten service providers; only one provider is able to address the needs of people who are not sober and cooperative. No one can tell this important distinction and from a list of telephone numbers. If someone is trying to find resources for a person who is not sober and corporative how many phone calls will it take to find the resources with a just a listing of phone numbers? A well-designed database will assist in locating the right service quickly and efficiently.

I prepared and gave a talk on Free and Open Software to NOFA (Northeast Organic Farmers Association) in August 2001 with emphasis on the needs of small farmers. I will be giving a talk on the same subject, but slanted to more general needs, at the Library in Wilton, New Hampshire September 2001. I will be expanding this page to include my ideas from the talks, comments from the participants, and pointers to sources of Free and Open Software as well as novel applications of this software.
