Welcome to Tir na nOg, owned by Dr. Douglas W. St.Clair and produced byKairong Feng. It is not a commercial site. But since we do collectinformation whenever you send us an email by clicking on a mailto: button orif you chose to fill in out form. We would like you to know what informationwe do with any information we collect.

1. What information of yours does Tir na nOg collect?Our goal is to become one of your favorite Internet destinations byproviding the information that is relevant to you. To achieve this goal Tirna nOg collects information, so we can understand what makes you differentfrom millions of other unique users.Information collected online is often defined as being either anonymous orpersonally identifiable.

* Anonymous information refers to data that cannot be tied back to aspecific individual. Tir na nOg does not collect Anonymous Information

* Personally identifiable information refers to data that tells usspecifically who you are, such as your name and postal address, which iscollected when you mailto: us or fill in a form

a. Tir na nOg Registration: You are sharing personally identifiableinformation with Tir na nOg when you register. If you choose toregister --and we hope you do-- you may provide Tir na nOg with your name,postal address, e-mail address, birth date, gender, ZIP code, telephonenumber, occupation, marital status and other information. While none of thisdata is required for our services to function, we are better able tocustomize your experience if you volunteer complete and accurateinformation.

b. Correspondence: If you contact Tir na nOg, we may keep a record of thatcorrespondence. We use the information only to respond to the e-mail. We don't sell or share email addresses. We do not send bulk e-mail except topeople who subscribe to a newsletter.

2. What about "cookies" and what are they?Tir na nOg does not use cookies.

A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number thatis transferred from a Web site to the hard drive of your computer so thatthe site administrator may identify your computer and passively track itsactivities on the Web site. This unique number identifies your Webbrowser --but not you-- to computers whenever you visit one of the sitesprepared to look for them. A cookie will not let a Web site know anypersonally identifiable information about you, such as your real name andaddress.

The use of cookies is now an industry standard, and they are currently usedon most major Web sites. Most Web browsers are initially set up to acceptcookies. If you prefer, you can reset your browser to notify you when youhave received a cookie. You can also refuse to accept cookies altogether.While Tir na nOg does not use cookies, keep in mind that certain sites andservices will not function properly if you set your browser to refuse allcookies.

4. How does Tir na nOg use the information it collects?

* Any personally identifiable information you share with Tir na nOg ismaintained and accessible only by Dr. Douglas St.Clair or Ms Kairong Fengunless specifically stated otherwise. Tir na nOg requests information fromits users so that we can change the site to reflect our users' interests.

* Tir na nOg may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities toprovide information on individual users to the appropriate governmentalauthorities. In matters involving a danger to personal or public safety, Tirna nOg may voluntarily provide information to appropriate governmentalauthorities.

5. With whom does Tir na nOg share the information that is collected?No one. Note that there are links from Tir na nOg to third party sites. Nothird-party sites are covered by our Privacy Policy. They are covered bytheir own Privacy Policy if any. If you feel that a site using a our brandand/or logo does not follow an acceptable privacy policy, please contact theTir na nOg Privacy Site Coordinator by e-mail at Tir na nOg Privacy

7. What is the opt-out policy for Tir na nOg?Tir na nOg offers you the ability to opt-out of receiving information on Tirna nOg updates and new services. This is done at the point of initialcollection of information and during the editing or updating process. Theinstructions to opt out of most Tir na nOg e-mail newsletters and directmail communications are the same as the instructions for editing userinformation profiles.

In addition, all Tir na nOg newsletters and direct e-mail communicationshave easy-to-follow unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each e-mail.8. What kinds of security procedures are in place to protect against theloss, misuse or alteration of your information?

8. Tir na nOg has security measures in place to attempt to protect against theloss, misuse and alteration of your user data under our control. Essentiallyonly we and our ISP have access to the information you provide us. Weprovide physical security for the information. The machines with yourinformation are generally disconnected from the internet. It is possible,though unlikely, that information sent over the network may be interceptedas it travels through the Internet. We cannot be responsible for thisunlikely occurrence. While we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse oralteration to data will not occur, we take many precautions to prevent suchunfortunate occurrences.

9. How does Tir na nOg comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)? At Tir na nOg Kairong Feng and Douglas St. Clair personally chose or create the content. We do not offer adult material on this site. Everything on the site should be suitable for people of either gender and any age.

10. What you can do to better protect yourself on the Internet?

a. Know the risks.
Meeting new people in an online community (chat room, forum, newsgroup,message board, Web page, etc.) is one of the best things about the Internet,but you should always be careful about disclosing personal information suchas an actual name, member name, e-mail address, and so on. This informationmay be collected and used by others within the online community to sendunsolicited e-mail messages from other parties, outside Tir na nOg.

b. Educate yourself.
Search the Web for as much information as you can about how to protect yourprivacy. Look for a privacy policy on the Web sites you visit. A good placeto start is TRUSTe -- an independent, non-profitorganization with a mission to build trust and confidence in the Internet.The Federal Trade Commission has a great Web site with useful information onbeing a Savvy Internet Traveler along withother privacy initiatives .Additional privacy resources can be found at by clicking on any of thefollowing links:

c. Tell your children: "Never talk to strangers!"
While Tir na nOg works hard to protect children on our site, we cannotprotect their privacy once they leave. Please teach children that theyshould not reveal their names or other personal information to anyone theyencounter on the Internet. They should also be instructed not to fill outany forms or register at any Web site without your knowledge and consent.Take advantage of the online resources for parents available on Tir na nOg,such as SearchGuard and GetNetWise
